Free Shred & Recycling Event

Do you have piles of paperwork or confidential information that you want to safely dispose of? Are you looking to recycle your old, broken, or unwanted strands of holiday lights? Need to recycle your aged bike, clothes, medical equipment, or household electronics you upgraded over the summer?

Join us for Lisle Township's Annual Shred & Recycle Event on Saturday, August 29 from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. located at 4711 Indiana Avenue in Lisle. Rain or shine!

Shredders may bring 2 bags/bankers boxes of paper to shred. Regular-sized staples may stay. Please remove binder clips, plastic folders, & string. Shredders must live in DuPage County to participate and this event is for residential shredding/recycling only, please no businesses.

Recyclable items being collected: books, keys, bread tags, holiday lights, records, musical instruments, Brita branded filters & pitchers, NEW school supplies, smoke detectors, walkers, canes, wheelchairs, laptops, printers, cell phones, bagged textiles, iPads & tablets, ink jet cartridges (no toners), VCR/DVD players, small household electronics, and TV's/computer monitors*.

*There is a small fee for TV's and computer screens. You can pay in advance by visiting https://recycling.eworksesi.org/ Please bring a printed receipt with you to the event to show advance payment.

Items NOT Accepted: Light bulbs, packing peanuts, bubble wrap, DVD’s, Video & Audio Cassettes, Car seats, Large Homes Appliances/White Goods, i.e. stoves, washing machines, refrigerators, freezers, air conditioners, dehumidifiers, large stereo speakers (extra-large wooden-box speakers), batteries, freon devices, hazardous waste (mercury-containing devices, thermostats, thermometers, smoke detectors, liquids and gases, fluorescent tubes and lightbulbs), wet textiles, rugs, rags, textiles used with chemicals, blankets, pillows, pet beds, wet or soiled books.

Items collected will be recycled by eWorks, SCARCE, & Project C.U.R.E. This event is presented by Lisle Township, in partnership with DuPage County.

Please follow the marked route. Staff & volunteers will unload your vehicle, so you do not need to get out of your vehicle. We want to keep traffic moving quickly. Please make sure items are easily identifiable in your trunk.
