RTA Senior Citizen Reduced Fare Program

Lisle Township residents may apply for the RTA Senior Citizen Reduced Fare Permit at the Lisle Township Supervisor’s Office. The RTA card allows seniors age 65 and over to ride Metra trains, Pace buses, and CTA trains and buses in the six-county RTA service area for free or reduced fare.

To apply for a card, present a photo ID card such as a driver’s license, state ID card, passport, or other official government-issued identification bearing your birth date and a photo. Apply in person Monday – Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. No appointment is necessary.

Note: Update on Changes for the Seniors Ride Free Program:

The Seniors Ride Free program changed in February 2011 after Illinois Governor Pat Quinn signed legislation amending the RTA Act to allow only low income seniors to continue riding free on fixed-route services. All other seniors would be required to pay a reduced fare. For more information about the recently changed Seniors Ride Free program, visit www.RTAchicago.org. (Source: RTA, March 17, 2011)
