TRIAD – Lisle Township has joined forces with Naperville Township to form the Naperville/Lisle Township TRIAD. This program is designed to empower senior citizens to become knowledgeable about safety and crime issues. The TRIAD serves as a link between Senior Citizens and the Community. The TRIAD is composed of Police, Sheriff and Fire departments, AARP, Senior Citizens and community organizations.Announcement from Dupage County Sheriff's Office Sheriff Warns Against Con Artists, Bulletin #2004-03 date February 11, 2004 Since November of last year the Sheriff's Office has had fifteen (15) reports from senior citizens throughout the county who have been victimized in one fashion or another by a group of men who use a ruse to enter their homes, and then attempt to find and steal cash and other valuables. In most cases, one of the men tries to distract the unwitting victim either inside or outside the house while his companions search other areas for anything of value. I am asking all of you who read this alert to be vigilant and help us watch out for the senior citizens living around you. If you have a friend or neighbor who is a senior, let them know this is going on in the area. Remind them to keep their doors locked at all times and to never let someone they don't know inside of their home. Please tell them to call 911 immediately if they see something or someone suspicious, and if an incident like this happens to them, urge them to report it as soon as possible. |
