Lisle Township in partnership with the City of Naperville, Naperville Township, Naperville Park District, DuPage County and Pace is a sponsor of the Ride DuPage Transportation Program
Who is eligible? If you reside in Lisle Township and are a senior citizen, sixty-five (65) years of age or older or you are disabled and have the RTA Special User Card you would qualify for this service. Applications for the RTA Special User Card are available at the township office, we will even take your picture, a requirement for the application.
How To Register. Registrations for the Ride DuPage program are taken during normal business hours of 8:30 a.m. through 4:00 p.m. Monday through Friday. Please bring a photo ID, such as a driver’s license or a state ID as well as something that would show us that you are a current resident of the township. If you are applying due to a disability we will also need to see your RTA Special Users card.
Cost: The Basic fare for most rides will be $3.00 for the first 6 miles with a cost of $1.50 for each additional mile. However, trips to and from two “transit centers” – Edward Hospital and the Downtown Naperville Metra Station – will be delivered for $1.50 for the first 6 miles with additional miles charged at $1.50 each. The purpose of providing trips to these locations at a lower fare is to encourage use of fixed route Pace buses, Route 530 and Route 714, which both serve these two locations. In addition, free transfers to Pace buses will be available in the Ride DuPage vehicles for riders who want them.
Companions One companion can travel with a registered rider at no additional cost. Just make sure you let the call taker know that more than one person will be making this trip.
Group Trips: Groups of three or more will be charged $3.00 for the first rider; unless traveling to or from the two “transit centers” in which case the first rider would be charged $1.50. The second rider would ride as the companion at no charge. All other riders would be charged $1.50 and any additional miles would only be charged once. When scheduling your ride be sure to tell the call taker how many people will be traveling so that they can be sure to send a vehicle large enough to accommodate your group. The call taker should tell you the cost of your trip when you make your reservation if for some reason they don’t, be sure to ask, because you are required to pay for the trip in cash at the time the trip is taken.
Travel Area: Anywhere you want to go.
Hours of Service 7 days a week and 24 hours a day.
Once you are registered you can schedule a ride by: Once you are registered reservations can be made by: calling 1-800-713-7445 at least one day in advance between the hours of 6:00 a.m. and 7:00 p.m. If you need to take a trip on Tuesday you would need to call before the call center closes at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Advance reservations can be made up to seven days before the trip is needed. If you have to take more than one trip during the week you would be able to schedule them all with one phone call. When you call: · Tell them that you want to schedule a Lisle Township Ride DuPage trip · Pickup time desired. · Drop off location. · Specify if a return trip is needed. · Be very specific as to where you will be waiting.
The dispatcher will ask your name. If they find your name in their computer they will schedule your ride (at this time no ID card is required for this program). The call taker will take the information for your trip and give you a cost for that ride. Ride DuPage will determine which vehicle is best for your trip depending on your special needs and trip destination. They may send a taxi or it might be a bus. Your cost will be the same with either type of vehicle. You may be riding alone or if another traveler is near to you, going to a destination that is close to your destination, you might be sharing that ride. This is another reason why it is important to mention if more than one person will be traveling.
When the Vehicle Arrives · Have your fare ready to give to the taxi or bus driver. · Be ready - others are also scheduled for rides. · Keep in mind that Pace drivers have a half hour window. This means your ride can arrive 15 minutes before or 15 minutes after your scheduled trip time and still be considered on time. However, once they reach your destination their schedule will allow them to wait no more than 5 minute before they go on to the next location. · Whenever possible please call at least two hours before your scheduled ride to cancel if your plans change and you no longer need this ride. Canceling with less than 30 minutes notice is considered a “no show” creating a $10.00 fine. · A “no show” occurs when a scheduled rider is not at the location requested at the time of the scheduled ride. Once again Pace charges $10.00 for each no show reported by the Ride DuPage drivers. This charge is passed on to the rider making it very important to call Pace’s Customer Relations number (1-847-228-4208) as soon as possible, to report any trip that was scheduled but not delivered or that was delivered late. If you can’t call the same day then please call on the next day so that Pace can check records and see what problems occurred.
In addition to the Ride DuPage program we hope that many Lisle Township residents will be able to use the two major Pace fixed routes. in Naperville. Information on both of these is available on the Pace website, www.pacebus.com or please call us and we will be happy to mail a bus schedule to you.
· Route 714, a new bus service which began operating in August 2006, and which travels from Naperville to the College of DuPage and Wheaton.
· Route 530, which began operating in October 2005, which travels from Naperville to Fox Valley Mall and Aurora.
Seniors and people with disabilities who have a reduced fare card, available through the RTA, are eligible for half-price fares on these Pace fixed routes. You may already have a reduced fare card; if you do not, please contact us at the number below for more information on how to apply for one.
