7:30 p.m., at the Lisle Township office, 4711 Indiana Avenue, Lisle, IL.
1. Roll Call:

Supervisor Charles Clarke
Highway Commissioner Michael Dow
Assessor John Trowbridge
Trustee Sam Smith
Trustee Patti Voras
Trustee Vito Modica
Trustee Robert Klaeren
Clerk Richard Tarulis
Present Electronically:
None
Absent:
None
Others Present:
Donna Schreiber
Jim Vondran
2. Public
Comments: Ms. Schreiber discussed a proposal she made at the Annual Meeting to support the troops returning from the wars
in Iraq and Afghanistan. She suggested that the Township arrange for a place for veterans to gather and meet, and act as a
clearinghouse for services that are available, and perhaps assist with psychological services. The program could be
coordinated with Benedictine University, which is offering free tuition to returning veterans. The University may be able to
provide facilities and a list of names of veterans that have contacted the school. Supervisor Clarke suggested she work with
Jim Healy and Joy Dooley.
Mr. Vondran
reported that the food pantry received approximately 3.4 tons of food from the Lisle postal food drive last Saturday. He
thanked Supervisor Clarke and wife, Assessor Trowbridge and son, Trustee Smith and wife, Trustee Modica, and others who assisted in unloading the
trucks and sorting the food, and for financial contributions.
3. Approval of Minutes:
Motion by Trustee Modica to approve the minutes of the April 8, 2008 Town Board meeting. Second by Trustee
Smith. Voice vote, all in favor, motion passed.
4. Report of Township Supervisor:
Supervisor Clarke advised that the refuse committee is meeting this Friday to discuss the progress of obtaining quotes from waste
haulers. A draft Request for Proposals has been prepared and is being circulated. A meeting is also
set for May 30 with Maine Township in Cook County, who already contracts for waste hauling in the unincorporated area of that
township. The refuse committee has been invited to attend that meeting also.
The application
for the food pantry to obtain a 501(c)(3) tax exempt status has been filed with the IRS.
Mr. Clarke also
thanked Mr. Vondran for an excellent job at the food drive. The food pantry is out of storage space, and Mr. Clarke gave the
Trustees a tour of the storage rooms in the building. Trustee Modica suggested that the Township purchase a bobcat or
gator-type vehicle to move pallets of food between buildings, rather than using the small 4-wheel carts that we have now.
5. Reports of Township
Officers: Highway Commissioner Dow reported that this is the third year of using the speed radar trailers, but that there
appears to be the same volume of speeding on the roads. Mr. Dow continues to hire off-duty sheriff deputies to write
tickets. The speed limit signs also keep getting stolen and must be replaced regularly.
6. Audit of Expenditures:
Motion by Trustee
Smith to audit expenditures. Second by Trustee Voras. Voice vote, all in favor, motion
passed.
The following total expenditures in each fund were reviewed:
