Lisle Township

Committed to the Service of our Residents

The Highway Department picks up leaves for those who live on roads that we service.  Generally, leaf pick-up begins during the last week of October and ends no later than the day before Thanksgiving.  We will make at least three complete passes through the Township unless we have to use our trucks and crew to clear the roads of snow or ice.  Since we cannot predict how long each pass will take or what the weather will bring, we cannot schedule specific pick-up dates in advance.

If you live on a curbed street, rake leaves along the backside of the curb.  If you live on a street with drainage ditches, please rake the leaves between the ditch and the edge of the road.  Storing leaves in the ditch presents problems during rainstorms.

Do NOT put your leaves in bags!

Please do not rake up yard waste, branches, or grass clippings into the same piles as the leaves.   Rocks, lumber, and other objects can injure our workers or destroy expensive equipment. We will NOT pick up leaf piles that contain foreign objects.

Please be aware that leaf burning is prohibited in all unincorporated areas of DuPage County.

Leaf pick-up is extended through the 1st week of December, weather permitting.

The last round through the township will start on Monday, Dec. 3.  Please have your leaves curbside or roadside before early Monday morning on Dec. 3.

If it snows our crew and trucks will switch to salting and plowing, and you’ll have to dispose of any leaves on your own.

We are trying our best to accommodate the late leaf drop this fall.
